The objective of the study is to identify the management team of the small towns of northern Paraná macro-region. This is a quantitative study conducted with health management teams of 82 small towns of northern region of the state of Paraná. Data were collected through a structured form containing variables related to the profile and performance of the management team. The results revealed that there was a predominance of women occupying management positions, and more than 50% of the members of the management team were in the age group of 30 to 44 years, and with higher education. Many professionals who joined health services were already part of the management team. The most frequent management functions were those responsible for different information systems, followed by examinations regulation and specialized consultations, and the function of planning and evaluation of health actions and services. Having a relatively young management team, with a good level of training, can contribute to the construction of the Unified Health System (SUS), provided that this team provides management that does not perpetuate a practice of reproduction of an hegemonic model centered on the disease and the on logic of the market.Downloads
