The aim of the study was to evaluate students’ satisfaction, self-confidence, and knowledge retention after a Health Simulation on Diabetes Mellitus screening in Primary Health Care. This quantitative, quasi-experimental pre- and posttest
study was conducted with nursing students at a public university in the Federal District, Brazil. Initially, 46 students participated, 15 in the experimental group and 31 in the control group; 33 completed the knowledge retention assessment. Satisfaction and self-confidence were assessed in the experimental group after the simulation. Satisfaction (4.92±0.27) and
self-confidence (4.83±0.79) scores were high. Knowledge scores increased in the experimental (8.72±1.49 to 9.70±0.48) and control groups (8.29±1.34 to 9.30±1.01). The results suggest that the intervention may be a promising teaching strategy in this context. However, inferential analyses are needed to assess between-group differences and determine whether
observed changes may be attributed to the intervention.
