Popular knowledge about oral health constitutes a repertoire of care related to memory, family and community networks, and access to services. The objective was to analyze how this knowledge is produced, shared, and mobilized in the studied communities and to discuss its contributions to dialogical educational practices in the Family Health Strategy (FHS). This is a qualitative research study conducted with adult residents of three peripheral and rural communities in Conceição de Macabu-RJ, through conversation circles. The narratives were examined using Reflective Thematic Analysis. The analysis produced four themes: memory of scarcity and extraction dentistry; home pharmacy and natural resources against pain; informal education and intergenerational transmission; and the demand for dialogue and humanization of care. The findings suggest that critically recognizing these repertoires can offer support for more contextualized health education actions, without replacing technical-scientific guidance or validating potentially unsafe practices.
