Abstract

OBJECTIVE To build an Operating Plan for the Center for Pharmaceutical Supply (CPS) of the infectious and contagious diseases public hospital, (in the city of Natal, state of Rio Grande do Norte). METHODS Five workshops were conducted with seven participants to develop the Situational Strategic Planning, which was divided into four stages: Explanatory, Regulatory, Strategic and Tactical and Operational. RESULTS The prioritized problem, the precariousness of transportation and storage conditions in the Pharmacy/CPS of the hospital, was determined, obtaining an operating plan with explanation matrices, and actions and operations to solve the problem cited above by raising awareness of managers for the acquisition of equipment and furniture to ensure better functional use of the CPS. CONCLUSION Thus, the improvement in the reduction of interpersonal conflicts, in the definition of work processes, in the risks to workers’ health, in the sector organization, and in the inventory control is evident. In addition, the creation and implementation of a database to control stock movement improved the implementation of the Pharmaceutical Care planning in the hospital. Therefore, the operating plan for the CPS has been successfully developed.
